Justice Kwame Aboagye is a gifted Ghanaian artist based in Accra.
He recently completed his
BFA from the prestigious Department of Painting and Sculpture at Kwame Nkrumah
University of Science and Technology 2018-2022. His artistic passion was deeply cultivated
during his tenure at the department, particularly under the influential guidance of
BlaTARLINES in Kumasi. Currently refining his craft in the studios of acclaimed artists
Amoako Boafo and dot. Ateliers, Aboagye s unique artistic journey took an intriguing turn as
he delved into the symbolic realm of currencies. Viewing them as a universally recognized
medium of exchange, he transformed his ideas about currencies into captivating collages
using paper transfer techniques. His artistic endeavors are dedicated to exploring profound
themes such as cultural heritage, nationalism, identity, and migration. Aboagye’s
commitment to his craft and the exploration of diverse themes reflects a keen interest in the
intersection of art and societal narratives. By incorporating the symbolism of currencies into
his work, he adds a layer of complexity that invites viewers to contemplate broader issues
related to culture, nationhood, and personal identity. As he continues to evolve under the
mentorship of established artists, Aboagye is poised to contribute thought-provoking
perspectives to the contemporary art scene in Ghana and beyond.
